Radiators
1997 Toyota Tacoma
The radiator in your Toyota car, SUV, van, or truck plays a crucial role in keeping your engine cooled and running right. It circulates fluid, usually in the form of a mixture of coolant and water, to and from the engine to remove heat as the engine runs.
How Radiators Work
That fluid is sent from the radiator through an inlet hose to the engine block. There, where it collects any heat that's been collecting. The fluid then returns to the radiator, where the collected heat is dispersed into the air through the radiator's large, flat, surface. The coolant then returns to the engine to repeat the cooling process.
How to Recognize Radiator Issues
Don't take the risk of a bad radiator leading to engine damage. Signs of failure include:
- "Low Coolant" dash light comes on
- Puddles of yellow, red, or green liquid under your vehicle
- Strange engine noises
- The syrupy sweet smell of coolant is in the air
- Cabin HVAC issues
